What is Transshipment?
Transshipment is the process of transferring cargo from one vessel (or aircraft) to another at an intermediate hub port, en route to its final destination.
It is used when there is no direct service between the origin and destination, or when routing through a major hub provides faster or more cost-effective service.
CCK manages all transshipment arrangements — you simply hand over your cargo and we handle the rest.
When Is Transshipment Used?
- No direct shipping service between origin and destination
- Destination is a smaller or regional port not served by major carriers
- Trade restrictions require rerouting through a neutral hub
- Cost savings available through hub-and-spoke routing
- Faster overall transit via a strategically located hub
